u13’s Reach Cup Final
After a long eventful season, Harrow United’s most senior team, the U13’s successfully reached the league cup final, beating Bessingby Park Rangers 2-1 in the semi-final.
After losing at the semi-final stage twice already this season, it looked like another would end up in disappointment when BPR broke the deadlock with just 2 minutes of the match remaining. But the boys would not accept defeat on this occasion, equalising with a thumping header from Zac, which took the match to extra time. With tiredness and injuries affecting several players, Malachi stepped up to score from a close range effort after a well-worked set piece.
The drama wasn’t quite over though, as BPR broke away and came inches away from scoring, but Man of the match Kamran was on hand to clear off the line after keeper Louis had made a fingertip save from an angled shot.
No matter what happens against Ruislip Rangers in the final, it has been a remarkable season for the U13’s, who have reached an unprecedented 3 semi-finals in the same season, and been able to consolidate their premier league position.
The team’s success is fantastic for the whole club, who reach a cup final for the first time, having competed in the Harrow Youth league for 5 seasons, and follows the success of the U12’s and U9’s in recent tournaments, and the U12’s finishing runners up in their league campaign.
Good luck in the final boys!
